Horses change. Weight fluctuates with the seasons, muscle development shifts with conditioning, and a saddle that fit perfectly last spring may sit slightly differently by fall. Shims are how you bridge that gap without pulling your saddle out of service or starting over.
If your saddle is sitting level but you're seeing a little extra space at the wither or an uneven sweat pattern behind the shoulder, a pair of shims placed under the pad in the right spot can restore proper contact and comfort quickly and inexpensively.
Wither shims (4" x 4") address bridging at the front. Rib shims (4" x 10") address gaps along the bar. Both attach to the underside of your pad with Velcro and are easy to reposition as your horse's condition changes.
